Northern Lights is the new project of Yiannis Kassetas, his 5th on his 10th year of making albums.
And from the start, you get the message: it’s a project exploding with ideas, freshness and narrative values.
Yiannis Kassetas creates landscapes and stories, he takes the listener in playful journeys, mysterious places and funky clubs where nobody asks at the door if you’ve got reservations.
It’s like a game. Listening, I felt transported in elegant 50s jazz venues, or in places where the vibes are vibrant and edgy with today’s mood. And there were moments that it sounded like a soundtrack of a movie with octopuses and monsters from the sea. Or maybe… it is just me.
Yiannis is a master of his art, making music full of emotions and ideas, clearly wanting to share it and not dive alone in his world.
Moreover, some of the finest are playing with him – more than twelve super fine Greek musicians, also Craig Handy, the sax man from the States, playing on “Fat Mummra” track.
So, North (talking on behalf of the South), keep these lights on.
#Yiannis Kassetas “Northen Lights” is out on Puzzlemusik.
