I asked Junior Sp to tell us a few things about His LTJ BUKEM, the LTJ Bukem that we know, and the one that we don’t.
Why? Because Bukem is a legend, not only in drum n’ bass- he is a man of music, “a gifted musician, a genious with brilliant ideas, high aesthetic and impeccable taste…” as Junior SP says on the way to the decks.
Because Junior SP, Mr Innersense himself, is our man in Breaks, a master of his art, our true connection to the legendary musician through the years from the first time Bukem played in Athens (yes, I was there too!) till now, his next super-gig, Sept 19 at S.i.x dogs.
Because, in music we trust. And here it is:
MY BUKEM, by Junior SP.
The man who, with his legendary (nowadays urban myth) “One-Armed” set at Alsos Black Room Athens back in December ‘94, changed the way I saw Breaks / Jungle / Drum’ n’Bass at the time and forever. His Innersense performances in ’95 and ’96 drastically helped me decide that promoting D’n’B will be a life mission. 20 years later, both him and me are still here.
The only man I know (musician or not) that was speaking to me on his next 4-year vision, and managed to make it real to the last detail. A true visionary with unbelievable intelligence and determination.
One of the most hardworking individuals I’ve ever met. Unstoppable, on a 24/7/365 mode and beyond.
A truly intelligent person, a man of the highest IQ. Able to “read” people, estimate situations, foresee events and behaviors, even able to tell what the man in the back of the room is wearing at any single time, like a well-trained spy.
A man that won’t make any compromise regarding his art. His technical rider and everything around his DJing must and will be as he wants, or he won’t perform. This is not arrogance, this is professionalism. Those who didn’t understand, didn’t want to, or misinterpreted things, had to find out the hard way.

Junior SP
A genuine music lover, a man who knows his music and a lot regarding music in general, as passionate as it gets. Two turntables, a mixer and a good soundsystem. All you need to have to make him your best friend.
A gifted musician, a genious with brilliant ideas, high aesthetic and impeccable taste. A soul man that defined an entire genre and beyond.
Technically, probably the best DJ on the face of this planet, using 2 turntables and a mixer. Let me use some quotes to emphasize : “George, if you can mix D’n’B LIKE Danny does, you can mix anything. This guy is by far one of the best DJ’s I know” – Frankie Knuckles // “Man, Bukem’s mixing is so flawless, it’s not even human any more, not interesting. The guy is like a machine playing a 2,5 hour record” – Marcus Intalex
A man of kindness and compassion for his people – but with a dark side as well, as all of us.
This guy with the glasses and the golden front tooth. My musical father, my teacher in music and in life, my friend Danny. We grew up together and we will most likely grow old together, even when clubs and events are history.
Looking from the outside, Danny is the very essence of what someone would call a legend. Happy and proud to be his friend, lucky for all of us to have seen him and still get to see him DJ. Even if he decided to stop today, his name will live forever. But trust me, he ain’t stopping anything. Music is his oxygen, his craft, his mission.
